Yesterday a trio version of Yugen (me, Maurizio Fasoli and Alessandro Cassani) rehearsed in a ghostly and hot Milan. I met the bass player Alessandro Cassani when we played together in Not A Good Sign, and he recorded bass for Death by Water cd. In this brief and (very) raw video he shows his skills as a fast-learner, playing a wicked pattern from Overmurmur "quasi a prima vista". Gosh.
Last June 18th I had the pleasure to take part to the annual Tribute to Claudio Rocchi organized by Antonello Cresti at Spazio Ligera in Milan. Five acts in one night: I was followed by Maurizio Marsico & Riccardo Sinigaglia, Tai-No Orchestra (Filippo Monico, Massimo Falascone, Roberto Masotti, Fabrizio Testa), Vincenzo Zitello and ODRZ (Massimo Mascheroni and Antonio Maione). Here you can see the video of my solo performance. Special thanks to Antonello and Massimo Mascheroni.
Yesterday Yugen officially started rehearsing for their return on stage, next Sept 22nd at Casa di Alex, Milan, with the Canadian band Miriodor. Maurizio Fasoli, Alessandro Cassani, Paolo Botta and Francesco Zago got together in an underground site to read music from the last cd "Death by Water". Outside the building, a group of crazy wasps decided to give us some push (in particular our bass player Alessandro).
I Dream Awake will be released next August the 11st by American label Ravello Records. A great collection of chamber music composed by Bill Whitley and played superbly by a handful of Italian guys: Elena Talarico (piano), Francesco Marzano (flute), Federico De Zottis (saxophone), Stefano Grasso (vibes), Matteo Lorito (upright bass), Eni Lulja (guitar) and Elisa La Marca (guitar).
